Some melting is to be expected, the plant will melt back older leaves and grow new ones more suitable for the new environment. when you start to see melt just pick those leaves off, its healthier and more energy efficient for the plant to grow new leaves than trying to repair old leaves.

There may be some snails in the leaves. If this is an issue for you please sanitize them in a vinegar dip for 5 mins and rinse thoroughly before adding to your aquarium or pond.
